Danny Westbrook  (2019)

Coach Westbrook coached Track and Cross Country in  
Arkansas for 36 years, with 35 of those at Bryant High School, retiring in 2016. He coached numerous individual and team state champions and had 42 of his athletes earn college scholar ships. An early highlight of his career was his 1991-1992 Boys Cross Country teams that won back-to-back state champion ships and ended the 1992 season  
ranked #19 in the USA by Harrier Magazine.

Coaching accomplishments and highlights: 
  • 6 State Championship teams  
  • 5 State Runner-up teams 
  • 17 Conference Championship teams 
  • Served as Vice President of the Arkansas Track Coaches   Association from 2003 – 2016 

One of the elite athletes Westbrook coached was Brian   Bariola – Arkansas Individual state cross country champion  in 1991 and 1992 and named 1992 High School All  American by the National Federation of Interscholastic  Coaches Association.

  • 1993 National HS Athletic Coaches Association Winner’s   Circle Award 
  • 2003 Arkansas High School Coaches Association Girls Cross  Country Coach of the Year
