• Broke LR Central Pole Vault record from 1938 in 1961
• Set state record at 13' in 1962 state meet
• Set state and Meet of Champions Record at 13'6" in 1962

Baylor University: 1963-1966

• Outstanding Freshman Athlete 1963, combining academic and athletic achievements in all sports
• Won Freshman Southwest Conference pole vault 1963
• Set Baylor school pole vault record of 14'4" in 1963
• Set Baylor school record of 15'7" at Drake Relays in 1966
• Tri-Captain of Baylor track team in 1966 and 4-year letter winner
