​Camden High School, Oklahoma A&M (Oklahoma State)

Camden High School - 1949: Four-Year Letterman
  • Junior and Senior years led team in scoring and won every local, district and state track meet; team captain senior year
  • Senior year state track meet — entered five events, won four and 2nd in one; set two state records and tied a third. Received High Point award.
  • At age 18, received special honor as “Camden Man of the Year” for track performance.

Oklahoma A&M ~ 1950-1953
  • Full athletic scholarship, four-year letterman, senior year team captain
    During collegiate career, won 44 medals participating in major track meets: Texas Relays, Kansas Relays, Penn Relays, Birmingham Relays, Drake Relays, Fort Worth Relays, Los Angeles Coliseum Relays, Border Olympics, and Sugar Bowl Invitational.
    Inducted into the OSU Hall of Honor in 1983 for outstanding performances in 100, 220, 440, 440 Relay, Mile Relay. 
  • Dean's Academic Honor Roll for four years, followed by a Master's Degree from Harvard Business School, graduating in top third of class.

​U. S. Air Force Track Team - 1955
  • Twenty-one months after last collegiate race, while serving in Korea, AF Command requested a tryout for World Wide Track Team. With three weeks to train, entered Korean AF Track Meet with winners to proceed to Tokyo, Japan, for final trials. Entered two events and won both.
  • Tokyo, Japan: Entered AF Finals Championship Track Meet and qualified as team member in the 440-yd race and as a member of the mile relay team
  • World Wide Interservice Meet held in Rome, NY. Last race of career.

Rice now serves as Chairman of the Board and Consultant for Grapette International and lives in Fayetteville.
