  • Competed for the University of Arkansas in Cross Country and Track & Field 1974-1978.
  • Six time NCAA All-American.
  • Ten time SWC Champion.
  • Personal Bests – 800 meters 1:46.79 (1975)
  • 1500 meters 3:39.59 (1980)
  • In 1977 set U of A indoor mile record of 3:55.40, which still stands, the 9th fastest time in NCAA history.
  • 1976 Olympian for Ireland in 800 and 1500 meters.
  • 1980 Olympian for Ireland in 800 and 1500 meters, but did not compete because of U.S. boycott of Moscow Olympics.
  • Inducted into U of A Sports HOF in 1994, and SWC Sports HOF in 2015.

Worked for Arkansas Department of Pollution Control and
Ecology and was named State Employee of the Year by Governor Bill Clinton.
