Awards:  2015 USTFCCCA Mideast Region Assistant Coach of the Year


Coaching achievements:
  • 86 Arkansas All-Americans
  • Six National Pole Vault Titles
  • Three NCAA records (2012-pole vault, , 2013-heptathlon, , 2015-pole vault)
  • Four Olympians
  • Two Bowerman Trophy Nominees
  • One Olympic Silver Medalist
  • Coached over 20 school records

​In total, the Razorbacks have enjoyed 10 SEC track & field championships, the 2015 NCAA Indoor Title, 2016 NCAA Outdoor Title, and five out of six top-four finishes have come since Compton joined the Arkansas staff.

  • Appeared 14 times in Olympic Games and World Championships competitions
  • Won 42 All-American honors
  • Won 17 SEC championships
  • Set seven SEC championship records

2016 continued his Olympic legacy as three of Compton’s student-athletes—Sandi Morris, Tina Sutej, and Lexi Weeks represented their respective nations in Rio. Morris and Weeks earned trips to their first Olympic Games following runner-up and bronze finishes, respectively at the USTAF Olympic Trials.


Morris won an Olympic Silver medal in Rio and continued after the games to set a new American record of 16’5” at as meet in Brussels, Belgium.  She also won the World Indoor gold medal in 2018.
